RBS Regional Cup: Second cup victory for Boroughmuir

Boroughmuir posted their second win of the season in the RBS Edinburgh Regional Cup on Saturday.

The home side defeated Watsonians 34-15 at Meggetland and top pool one.

The tries for the hosts against their RBS National League rivals came from Joni Hare, Greg Scott, Stevie Wilson and Murray Johnstone, while David Reekie kicked the rest of the points. Sonians, with a number of their unbeaten second team given a chance to step up to the first XV, battled hard, but could not prevent the home side from winning.

In the same pool, Musselburgh defeated Haddington 37-12 in the East Lothian derby.

In pool three, Heriot’s managed to defeat Stewart’s Melville 40-17 at Goldenacre.

The visitors had gone into this one in a great run of form so it was perhaps no surprise that the game was still in the balance at 26-17 with 12 minutes to go. Two late converted tries sealed things for Heriot’s, though.

In the RBS Caledonia Regional Cup, meanwhile, Howe of Fife-Aberdeen Grammar fell foul of the weather, but Aberdeenshire performed 
well to defeat Falkirk 11-3 at Woodside.

In the RBS West Regional Cup pool one match between Whitecraigs and Cartha Queens Park, the sides were tied 19-19 at half-time.

The visitors eventually came out on top 43-33 after a great second half.

In pool two, West of Scotland managed to win 29-17 at Ardossan Accies. In pool three, GHA-Dalziel was called off and Marr won 31-17 at Dumfries in their pool four clash.
