Melrose handed tough draw at home sevens

MELROSE have landed themselves a tricky draw in their own sevens tournament as they bid to reach the final for a second time in three years.

The 2013 Aberdeen Asset Melrose Sevens will be played on Saturday 13 April and the hosts are joined as seeds by holders Saracens, guests sides Clermont Auvergne, Worcester and India, as well as leading Scottish sevens teams, Heriot’s, Jed-Forest and Ayr.

The draw, made at the Greenyards on Saturday by Scotland female players Lauren Harris and Gillian Inglis, has pitched Ayr, Worcester, India and Clermont in the top half and Melrose in the bottom half with Jed, Heriot’s and Saracens, but the hosts would have to overcome the winners of the first-round tie between Watsonians and Hawks if they are to reach the semi-final.
