RACING 92 have suspended Italian prop Martin Castrogiovanni after he was pictured partying with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Las Vegas last weekend. He had told the club that he had to return to Argentina on a family matter and miss their European Champions Cup semi-final.

After excusing himself of duty for the game against his former club Leicester in Nottingham on Sunday, the 119-times capped forward was subsequently pictured topless with Ibrahimovic and other PSG players cavorting in the US party city.

“Following the publication in the media of photographs showing Martin Castrogiovanni with Paris Saint-Germain footballers this weekend at a hotel in Las Vegas, while the entire Racing squad was in Nottingham to contest a semi-final, Racing 92 have decided to suspend the player as a precautionary measure prior to launching legal proceedings,” read a statement on the club’s website.

Racing, who boast a star-studded squad including All Blacks legend Dan Carter and are expected to sign Glasgow lock Leone Nakarawa in the summer, beat Leicester 19-16 and will face Saracens in the Champions Cup final, which takes place in Lyon on 14 May.
