'It should be more': Pundits believe Scotland should be further ahead at half-time v England

Scotland led England 8-6 at the interval in their opening Six Nations match of 2021.

However former international Jim Hamilton, watching on, believed Gregor Townsend’s side should be ahead by more after an impressive first half.

Duhan van der Merwe scored the key try in a dominant display from the visitors to Twickeham, but the scoreboard was still tight.

“The amount of pressure this Scotland pack has put on England has been phenomenal,” Hamilton said. “They’ve been really comfortable in the chaos that has been this first half.

"It’s 8-6 and Gregor will be pleased but from a Scotland persective – I think it should be more.”

Sir Clive Woodward, alongside the former Scotland international on ITV added: “England have done a great job defensively. Scotland offensively there has to be no change but they have to lift the intensity

“They have been brilliant, make no bones about it, it’s one of the best performances form Scotland for a long, long time."
