The Mansfield Park men had much the better of the set-piece and notably in the scrum. But it was their driving maul that proved to be a formidable weapon for the Greens.

For Stirling their failure to come away with a point put a dent in hopes of finishing in the top four and a chance to compete in the play-offs.

At the end of a half in which Hawick had the better territory and possession stats the Greens led 15-7 from tries by Matt Carryer and Keith Davies and a conversion and penalty by Ali Weir, pictured, to a try by Ross Curle and the extras by Jonny Hope.

A Ruariadh Leishman try again converted by Hope narrow the gap to just one point but a surging run by Bruce McNeil led to a try by Dom Buckley. Weir converted and although Hope bagged three points for Stirling it was Hawick who dominated scoring through Gary Munro and a second by for Buckley, both converted by Weir.
