Has Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata made a big call on his future?

Dedryck Boyata has taken a big step forward in deciding his future, according to reports.

Boyata - who didn’t travel with the Celtic squad to Lithuania to face Suduva in the Europa League play-off this evening - is wanted by La Liga side Sevilla, as well as Istanbul giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.

Reports in Turkish publication Fanatik suggest that the Super Lig teams may hold an advantage in the race for the Belgian’s signature after the defender rejected a move to Spain amid fears over game time.

It is understood that the former Manchester City youngster wants guaranteed first team football.

Sevilla - linked with a £10 million move for Boyata - have a number of centre backs on their books suggesting the 27-year-old wouldn’t necessarily be first choice.

Fener and Galatasaray have until September 1 to bolster their squads and both teams are in the market for a first-pick central defender.

Boyata fuelled speculation he could be heading for Turkey after he followed both clubs on social media, but Fanatik believes Fenerbahce director of football Damien Comolli, and Galatasaray boss Fatih Terim are both scheduled to meet with the player’s representatives this week.

According to Boyata’s agent, Celtic turned down large bids from both Fenerbahce and Olympiakos earlier in the summer.
