Graeme Beveridge gets academy role with Edinburgh
Beveridge, who won six caps for Scotland between 2000 and 2005, joins from his post as Glasgow Warriors’ rugby operations manager, and will continue the work of current manager Grant McKelvey, who takes on a new role in the business. His appointment sees McKelvey become talent identification and performance projects manager, working across the academies and with Scotland’s age-grade sides.
Yesterday’s announcement is the latest development in the national roll-out of the BT Sport academies and follows the appointment of the Caledonia (Bruce Frame) and West (Jamie Dempsey) managers in October.

Beveridge said: “I’m looking forward to working with the academy team and building on the success of the current regional academy and elite development player programmes in Edinburgh that have seen the likes of Matt Scott, Dougie Fife, Tom Brown and Grant Gilchrist come through and win caps.
“There are good players coming through and it’ll be my job to ensure we continue, working closely with our clubs and schools, to improve the output and the quantity of talent reaching the professional game.” Beveridge played for Glasgow between 2002 and 2007 and made 118 appearances for the pro side. He was part of the Scotland squad at the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia. After leaving the Warriors he moved to Bristol Rugby before taking a job as a private wealth consultant in the city. He then returned to Glasgow.
Stephen Gemmell, Scottish Rugby’s head of academy and performance programmes, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Graeme into our new BT Sport Academy. His experience gained from playing at the highest level make him a strong addition to our staff.
“His skills and experience will be invaluable in his academy manager role, as he works with his staff to develop the next generation of players.”
Glasgow Warriors head coach, Gregor Townsend, said: “Graeme has made a big contribution to the club. His appointment coincided with a great run of games for us.”
