The new date means the Pro14 matches scheduled for next weekend have been moved.

Glasgow were due to host Benetton on Friday and Edinburgh were down to play Zebre away on Saturday.

Those games will be scheduled for another weekend in early 2021 and the two Italian sides will now play each other on Saturday, January 9.

The Pro14 made the changes to cut down on travel and mitigate the risks currently posed by the pandemic.

“It is uncertain when the current restrictions placed on travel between the UK and Italy will be lifted and this poses a significant risk to the fixtures between these teams as previously planned,” the Pro14 said in a statement.

“By switching these matches it ensures that all Round 11 games in the Guinness Pro14 require no international travel and teams will have greater control of their environments.”

Edinburgh and Glasgow will play each other at Murrayfield on Saturday in what was originally the second leg of the 1872 Cup.
