Glasgow among European Champions Cup top seeds

GLASGOW Warriors will be among the top seeds when the draw is made for next season’s European Rugby Champions Cup.

The news is reward for the Scotstoun club winning the Guinness Pro12.

English champions Saracens will also be in the top group of seeds along with the winners of Saturday’s French Top 14 final between Clermont Auvergne and Stade Français.

The draw for Europe’s elite club competition will take place in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, on Wednesday.

The final two top seeds will be decided by a draw involving beaten Aviva Premiership finalists Bath, Pro12 runners-up Munster and the losers of the Top 14 final. The Challenge Cup pool draws, which will feature Edinburgh, will also take place on Wednesday.

l Cardiff Blues have secured Danny Wilson on a three-year contract as new head coach to replace Mark Hammett.

Wilson joins Cardiff after Bristol agreed to release their forwards coach.

l Scotland sevens international Byron McGuigan, who used to play for Glasgow, has earned himself a full-time stay at Exeter Chiefs by winning a one-year contract extension.

l London Scottish have 
signed Welsh sevens international Jason Harries. The 26-year-old back can play centre or wing.
