Gareth McAuley on his future amid interest from trio of Scottish clubs

Gareth McAuley insists he's looking to make the right decision over his future amid interest from a trio of Scottish clubs.

Aberdeen and Hearts are both keen on signing the 38-year-old centre-back, while Rangers are also said to be considering a move.

McAuley, who has 79 caps for Northern Ireland, most recently played for West Brom in the English Premier League but has been without a club since his contract expired earlier this summer.

The centre-back reveals he’s turned down offers from elsewhere as he searches for the perfect fit.

He said: “I’ve had offers, and turned down good contracts, but they weren’t right for various reasons. I’m just waiting for something that ticks all the boxes.

“The last thing I want to do is sign and think a few months down the line that this is wrong. I have to do what’s right for me and my family.

“Ideally I would like to get a deal done and get training and playing. I just have to try and make the right decision.”
