Finn Russell can ‘cause England some damage’ in Scotland’s Six Nations opener

Stuart Hogg has backed Finn Russell to “cause England some damage” as Scotland look to kick off their 2021 Guinness Six Nations campaign with a long-awaited win at Twickenham.

Russell has been outstanding for Racing 92 recently and has carried his form into training.

The stand-off missed all but a fraction of last year’s Six Nations after a fall-out with management but bridges have been mended and Hogg can’t wait to see Russell in action this afternoon.

“I’ve loved the way Finn has come back into camp,” said the Scotland captain. “The last couple of weeks he has been outstanding. He’s really coached the boys around the park and spoke incredibly well in huddles and meetings.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have a guy like that back and I believe he’s got one of the best kicking games in world rugby and hopefully he can get his bag of tricks out and cause England some damage.

“He makes sure everybody is on their toes. He’s brought a lot of simplicity to the way we attack. We don’t want to be too fancy. He’s learned a huge amount from being in France and the games he’s been involved in.”
