Charity rugby outfits the Stevie Sims Cavaliers, the Pigbarians, and Movember will be amongst the teams battling to become Hunters Residential Edinburgh 10s champions tomorrow at Raeburn Place.

Now in its fourth year, the ten-a-side end-of-season event has become a firm fixture for many on the Capital rugby calendar with the tournament being augmented by food, drink, music and other entertainment.

It will be the first time the Cavaliers – playing to raise money for Wooden Spoon and the ITP Association in memory of former University of St Andrews and Stewart’s Melville Stevie Sims who died just over a year ago – will be involved at the event.

They should have a reasonably big support and a good squad involved while the Pigbarians, who raise money for Dreamz4U children’s charity, have already played in a number of sevens tournaments this spring and will hope to adapt their game to 10s quickly.

With last year’s winners, Stockholm Exiles, not returning, Foul Fashion, the beaten finalists in 2012, will be keen to go one better this time around.

Edinburgh Accies could be challengers for the top prize if they get a strong squad out while the Belfast Bears have travelled across from Northern Ireland to take part. It will also be great to see Bo’ness in action, the West Lothian club only having been set up just over a season ago and growing all the time.

Event organiser Jonny Jenkins said: “We have a good line up of teams this year and with a number of Premiership and National League players set to be involved for various teams I believe the standard will be high.”

The day starts at 10am and there is also an eight-team touch rugby event taking place.
