Blair Kinghorn: Experience will help Scots in U20 Six Nations

Scotland Under-20 full-back Blair Kinghorn believes this year's squad has the experience and maturity to back up last season's encouraging Six Nations, when they won three out of five.

The youngsters open their campaign at home to England tonight and the 19-year-old, who has broken into the Edinburgh team this season, said: “Most of the team have played together before, either with the under-20s last year or the under-18 boys who have come up. The team was quite young last year but there is that bit more experience now and a good gel on and off the pitch.”

Stand-off could yet be where his future lies but Kinghorn is happy to wear the No 15 jersey in the position where Edinburgh coach Alan Solomons has been utilising him, with Adam Hastings at No 10.

“I’m really enjoying full-back,” said Kinghorn. “People are often asking me if I prefer stand-off but I am really enjoying playing
full-back, getting to run with the ball and see the game in front of me.

“I’m not really bothered where I play as long as I can get into the squad. I know Adam from when he was up here on the school circuit, he was the year above me, him at Watson’s and myself at Edinburgh Academy, and he’s a great lad.”
