Rugby: Pigbarians to help Forrester RFC unveil their new pitch tomorrow

A festival of rugby is to take place at Forrester RFC on
Sunday to celebrate the
opening of their new pitch.

In the morning the club’s micro and mini sections will be playing against Royal High as will the under-14s. Then in the afternoon the under-16s and 17s will take on Falkirk
before the senior first XV take on
charity team the Pigbarians at 3pm in the main event.

The Pigbarians help raise money for Dreamz4U and include many former Forrester players in their squad for this one.

Notably Scotland under-20 and Scotland Sevens cap Sam Hidalgo-Clyne will be involved for the Pigs along with Colin Bradford, Scott Edmondson, Dougie Dingwall (all Forrester), Robert Simpson (Dalziel), Ross Bradford, Andy Knight (both Boroughmuir), Luke Morrow, Daryl Morrow (both Gordonians), Stuart Cluness, Allan Carson, Kevin Carson, Sean Hunter, Ross Latto, Lee Walsh (all Queensferry), Murray Johnston, Ross Merilees (both Currie), Kenny Blyth, Robert Blyth (both Edinburgh Accies), Brian Middlemass and Andy Adam (both Livingston).

Forrester president Derek Panther said: “We have had the use of the new clubhouse for a few years now, but it is great to now have the pitch in working order.

“It will be great to see some old faces down at the club and it should be a brilliant way to kick-off the season and create a buzz about the place.”

As well as the rugby there will be plenty to keep families entertained including a bouncy castle, a tuck shop and a barbeque.

The founder members of the club from 1964 and past presidents, vice-presidents, captains and vice-captains have also been invited to a buffet lunch.

Forrester begin their RBS East Two league campaign away to Hawick Harlequins on September 1 with the first home match on their new pitch a week later against Lismore.
