Rugby: Notable first for Sinclair

Talented teenage rugby player Adam Sinclair from Loretto School will become the first Scottish player to be involved with the Western Province Rugby Institute (WPRI) after being selected to take up a place in South Africa next year.

Sinclair will depart for Cape Town next July and he will be part of the Western Province under-19 squad. He will be exposed to a high standard as both the under-19 and 21 Western Province teams won their respective provincial competitions this year.

Loretto's Director of Rugby Danny Rossuw said: "This is the ideal opportunity for Adam to develop as a player as he pursues his dream to become a professional rugby player.

"The success rate of the WPRI can be described as phenomenal. To date it delivered two Springboks, one England Sevens player, seven Super 14 players, 25 senior provincial players and 15 players who have represented other unions."
