Rugby: No unlucky 13 for Watsonians as winning run continues

Watsonians made it 13 wins in a row last night, Brian Walls kicking six penalties to help defeat Haddington at Myreside in the RBS Edinburgh Regional Cup clash.

The hosts eventually came through 28-7 to add to wins over Lasswade and Murrayfield Wanderers, but will hope injuries suffered are not too serious.

The likes of Chris Scott, Riaan Basson, captain for the night Harris Grant and Tom Wright went off nursing problems and the coaching team will want them fit for their return to RBS National League duty next weekend.

The hosts led 11-0 early on through a Jamie Niven try and two penalties by scrum-half Walls, but Haddington went in to the break just four points down after a converted try by their number nine Nick Bell.

After 60 minutes Watsonians led 19-7 thanks to a try by sub Andrew Joseph and a penalty from Walls. They added three further penalties through Walls to seal it 28-7.
