Rugby: Munster seeking payback in bid to halt Edinburgh’s run

Edinburgh RUGBY were today warned they face a Munster side hell-bent on revenge when the teams meet at Limerick’s Thomond Park on Saturday.

The last encounter at Murrayfield in September saw Edinburgh run out 29-14 winners – a Rabo Direct Pro 12 League result still uppermost in the mind of Munster forwards coach Anthony Foley, who says: “Edinburgh will punish teams even when they have a minimum of the ball and we are looking forward to the rematch and getting them back.”

At the same time Foley praised the run of form that has seen Edinburgh go top of their Heineken European Cup pool with an away win at London Irish’s Madejski Stadium followed by a home victory over Racing Metro.

“We know what it is like to go to the Madejski and try get a result but they pulled that off. Their match with Racing Metro (48-47) was some game, a privilege to watch. Michael Bradley has them flowing but this is a very important match for us and it should be a good game between two sides who are going well,” he said.

Munster have lost just once this season, to Ospreys in October, and have won their last six home games against Scottish opponents since May 2008 making it a formidable challenge for Edinburgh.
