Rugby: Jim Hamilton’s tour in doubt

Jim Hamilton’s availability for Scotland’s summer rugby tour could be in the hands of an English disciplinary panel after the second row was red carded playing for Gloucester at London Irish.

Fists flew between Hamilton and opposing hooker David Paice after they had been sin-binned and Test referee Dave Pearson wielded a red card which could carry an eight-week ban.

Scotland start a Test tour also featuring Samoa and Fiji in Australia on June 5.

Expected to be on that trip is Edinburgh winger Tim Visser, voted “Player’s Player of the Year” at the Rabo Direct Pro 12 awards. Visser said: “(I’m) absolutely humbled.”
