GLASGOW back-row forward James Eddie has signed a two-year contract extension.

The flanker will return to the Glasgow fold on a full-time basis next season after serving his spell as a contracted member of the Scotland Sevens squad.

The 26-year-old, who has made 67 appearances for the club, said: “I’m thrilled to have been given the opportunity to play a full role in the Warriors squad over the coming two campaigns.

“I love being part of the club and I’m massively excited about where it’s heading.

“The squad is growing in strength in depth all the time, the atmosphere around the place is first class, and I’m convinced we’re on the right road.

“It’s certainly the most excited I’ve been about Glasgow’s potential in the five and a bit years I’ve been here.

“I’ve been really fortunate to have the chance to play for Scotland Sevens this season, and it’s an experience that I’ve benefited from considerably.

“My skills and fitness have been examined closely, I’ve been part of a team that’s claimed silverware and I’ve been able to keep myself in sight of the Warriors coaches at a time when they’ve been looking at the squad for next year.”

Warriors head coach Sean Lineen added: “James is a talented, hungry player who has won a place in the hearts of the Glasgow crowd with his passionate, committed style.

“Before the sevens season began, he was in the form of his life for us, scoring a crucial try in our away win over Cardiff and bringing some real aggression to our play.

“We’ll be looking for more of the same once he comes back on board next season, and I’m delighted to have tied him down.”
