Rugby: Edinburgh star Scott hoping to face Munster despite picking up injury

Rising Edinburgh Rugby star Matt Scott has reassured fans who saw him retire hurt early in what proved to be an epic 48-47 Heineken European Cup victory over Racing Metro at Murrayfield that he could be quickly back in action. As a league visit to Munster now looms for Edinburgh on Saturday, the 21-year-old even hinted that he could be available.

“Hip injury not too serious, thankfully,” Scott has told social network site Twitter before adding his own postscript to a match in which Edinburgh scored six tries to the visitors’ five.

“Gutted I couldn’t be on the pitch at the end,” he Tweeted.

While flanker David Denton, currently injured, declared the match “the best game of rugby I’ve seen in my life” as he looked on from the stands, winger Tim Visser has credited rugby’s bonus point system for sparking the Edinburgh revival from 24 points down.

In rugby, teams get an extra point for scoring four tries – and another for finishing within a single score (seven points) of their opponents. “We were just looking to get the losing bonus point (and) probably didn’t think we could win until Tom Brown scored that second last try in the corner. It was an incredible win,” said Visser.
