Rugby: Dunbar forced to fight for win over feisty Broughton

Leaders Dunbar had to battle hard to defeat Broughton in RBS East Two on Saturday.

With the league split on the horizon the men from East Lothian were looking to keep their form from 2011 going, but they came up against a stubborn Broughton. In the end they triumphed 33-5, but the hosts gave as good as they got. Calum Champion opened the scoring for the visitors to the Capital after 12 minutes and another came two minutes later through Keiran Donnellan.

A third try came before the break from Tom Thornton-Smith and at that stage Dunbar had worked hard to build up the 19-0 advantage. Twelve minutes into the second half Broughton scored an unconverted try, but they could not mount a comeback as Dunbar upped a gear again for the final 28 minutes.
