Rugby and equestrian success for St Leonards School

St Leonards School is one of the sponsors of the Fife Point-to-Point Balcormo Races '“ and so it was a real thrill for one of the pupils to win the Fife Foxhounds Pony Race.

Elliot Stockwell, who is in year seven, was victorious in the race for youngsters 138cm and under. He has only been racing competitively for a year, and his pony mount was “Ninfield Millionaire’s Splendour”.

There was more horsey success for the St Andrews school. Competing in the Scottish Schools’ Equestrian Championship at the Howe Equestrian Centre, the St Leonards team of Ella Vincent, Harriet Vincent, Sophie Brown and Libby Clark finished in fifth place in the team event and Harriet picked up three bronze medals in the individual disciplines.

In rugby, three St Leonards students represented Howe of Fife Under-16s squad in the final of the BT Caledonia Youth Cup at Station Park in St Andrews. Jamie MacAulay, Ruairi Hutchinson and Jack Denton were in the side that defeated Ross Sutherland and won the Caledonia Under-16 plate.

Finally on ths sporting front, Pol Berge shot a 74 to win the St Leonards Medal played over the St Andrews Links Jubilee course. Ben Caton was second with a 76, and Miguel Reider claimed third spot a further shot behind.

The medal is the first of two legs to decided the winner of the St Leonards Club Championship.

The top three after round one are all members of the highly regarded St Leonards Elite Golf Programme.
