Rowing: Grainger falls short in double gold bid

Scotland's Katherine Grainger just failed in her quest for double gold at the World Cup in Munich yesterday when, just over an hour after dominating the double sculls final, she and her crew-mates lost out to Germany in the quadruple sculls final.

Grainger and crew-mate Anna Watkins comfortably held off the challenge of the Czech Republic and Germany in the double sculls and were joined by Annie Vernon and Beth Rodford for the quad final. However, they were forced to settle for silver behind the Germans and ahead of a fast-finishing Chinese crew.
