Rolland avoids Wales for Six Nations

Controversial World Cup referee Alain Rolland won’t be involved in any of Wales’ RBS Six Nations matches.

Rolland sent off Wales skipper Sam Warburton for a spear tackle in the World Cup semi-final defeat by France. The Irishman was heavily criticised for the decision just 18 minutes into the highly-charged clash.

In the Six Nations Rolland will referee France v England on 11 March and Italy v Scotland on 17 March. He won’t be present at any Wales fixtures in the capacity of assistant referee or television match official.
