Rocks rolling on with fourth straight win

BASKETBALL: Glasgow Rocks recorded a deserved 82-76 win at Surrey Heat last night, their second road win of the weekend and fourth straight league win.

Kieron Achara’s 24 points led the Rocks’ scoring for the second straight evening, while EJ Harrison scored eight of his 20 points in the final two minutes.

Rocks never trailed and enjoyed their biggest lead 61-49, late in the third quarter. They stayed in front despite tremendous pressure from Surrey. The pivotal moment came in the final quarter when Heat’s Frank Holmes cut the Rocks’ lead to 63-62, off an 8-2 run.

His thunderous dunk had the home crowd cheering, but Rocks hit back immediately as player-coach Sterling Davis drained a three-pointer.

“I feel we came out with something to prove,” said Achara. “We had a bitter loss last time we were here and it was kind of upsetting.

“Everyone played as a team, everyone made big shots and it was just a good win overall.”
