Relegated Airdrie sack Black and turn to Boyle

AIRDRIE United have appointed youth coach Jimmy Boyle as interim manager after confirming Kenny Black's departure.

Black, who had been in charge for three and a half years, was unable to prevent the club's relegation to the Second Division last season. That was despite being handed a reprieve last year when Airdrie were relegated only to be reinstated to the First Division following Livingston's demotion to the Third Division.

United said in a statement: "The club can confirm that Kenny Black has been relieved of his duties as manager. Due to the impending start of preparation for the forthcoming season, Jimmy Boyle, who was in charge of youth development and the Under-19s, has been appointed interim manager."
