Rangers plan talks over Tomer Hemed signing

Rangers manager Ally McCoist is to hold talks over the weekend with the aim to making striker Tomer Hemed his first signing.

The Israel international, 24, is on McCoist's wanted list following favourable reports. Hemed would be available on a free transfer after a spell with Maccabi Haifa.

McCoist said: "We'll talk to his agents over the next couple of days.I've had great reports on him. By all accounts he's a good lad, very professional. He has a good pedigree and a good attitude."

Aberdeen have invited Spanish defender Juan Carlos Mesquida Nunez for a trial. Nunez plays for Majorca-based side Felanitx in Spain's Tercera Division, the fourth tier. Nigerian Under-23 international Daniel Uchechi is also due at Pittodrie for a trial. Uchechi, 21, played previously for Charlton and West Ham United and spent part of last season on loan at Leicester City.

Swansea City have opened talks with former Spain international Marcos Senna, 34, who is out of contract at Villarreal.

Rushden & Diamonds have been expelled from the Football Conference for financial reasons, ahead of a hearing for a winding-up petition tomorrow.
