Ramsay peak after win in Switzerland

RICHIE Ramsay has jumped to a career-high 68th in the world rankings on the back of his
European Masters victory in Switzerland at the weekend.

The Aberdonian’s climb of 42 places has seen him join
Paul Lawrie (28th) and Martin Laird (40th) in the sport’s elite top 100.

Ramsay’s next target will be to get into the top 50 for the first time as that would earn him an invitation to next year’s
Masters as well as spots in the various WGC events.

Meanwhile, European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazbal will be able to assess Martin Kaymer’s form at close quarters this week when he partners the German in the opening two rounds of the KLM Open at Hilversum in the Netherlands.

Kaymer, who just held on to the last automatic spot in the team for Medinah after suffering a dip in form, is confident the Spaniard will see that his game is starting to come back to the boil again.

“To play with Jose Maria is nice and, hopefully, I can learn a lot from him, especially the short game,” said Kaymer, who will also have wild-card pick Nicolas Colsaerts for company over the first two days. “I think we will speak a lot about the Ryder Cup and it is a good draw for me.”
