On its first day in Scotland, the Baton will take pride of place at the 21 Gun Salute, to be fired in celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s Official Birthday, 14th June, at 12 pm at Edinburgh Castle’s Mills Mount Battery.

The Baton will be handed over to The District Gunner, Sergeant David Beveridge, the man in charge of firing the Castle’s famous One O’Clock Gun.

The Sergeant will hold the Baton as the Salute is fired by the 105 Regiment Royal Artillery, before it is then welcomed into the Castle, at Hospital Square, before marching up to Mills Mount Battery. Sergeant Beveridge will then carry the Baton to the Castle Drawbridge before handing it on.

He will be accompanied by members of the Lowland Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, who will provide the music throughout the event.
