£70,000 profit from ODI

CRICKET Scotland chief executive Roddy Smith said he hoped the organisation would make a profit of "between £70,000 and £80,000" from Saturday's one-day international between Scotland and England at the Grange in Stockbridge, Edinburgh.

Blessed by good weather but deprived of the usual levels of corporate hospitality income by the match falling on a weekend, Scottish cricket's ruling body will be satisfied with the positive reaction of spectators to the international and the extra cash it generated.

Smith also said he hopes the ECB will grant an extension to their agreement, which expires in 2012, for England to play Scotland every two years.

"This is the only game on the calendar which allows us to make a profit," he said, adding that he was hopeful of Sri Lanka or South Africa agreeing to provide the opposition for another gala one-day international next summer.
