Points over cup for Myatt

Preston ATHLETIC progressed to the semi-finals of the East of Scotland League Cup with a 2-0 win against Lothian Thistle, although winning manager Stevie Myatt would have preferred three points in a Central Taxis Premier Division match as they are currently involved in a three-team relegation dogfight.

The Preston boss said: "I was very pleased with the way we won the game and with a clean sheet but, genuinely, the semi-final means nothing if we do not maintain our place in the Premier Division."

The deadlock was broken in the closing stages of the first half when Mark Pagliarulo drilled home. John Kerr sealed Preston's win 15 minutes from time with a well-struck shot .
