Player shortage forces Kincraig to pull out

THE shinty club which Olympic skiers Alain and Noel Baxter played for has been forced to quit competition due to a lack of players.

Kincraig have withdrawn from the senior leagues for the first time in their history. The Strathspey outfit, who have long had to compete with neighbouring clubs, Kingussie and Newtonmore, for players,

were forced to abandon their league programme last year and will have no Camanachd Association fixtures for the first time in 37 years.

Club president Dennis Meldrum said: "Hopefully we can get the club going again next season."
