Peterhead plumb job for McAllister

Rory McAllister has revealed a desire to finish his plumbing apprenticeship resulted in him rejecting a host of full-time clubs to sign for Peterhead.

The in-demand striker has shunned the advances of clubs north and south of the Border to pen a two-year deal with the part-time Blue Toon.

McAllister turned down an offer from St Mirren earlier this month, while Hibs, St Johnstone, Aberdeen, Sheffield United, Charlton Athletic and Port Vale were all interested in his services.

But the 24-year-old is in the final year of his apprenticeship as a plumber and his eagerness to complete the trade qualification swayed his choice of club.

He said: "I had other offers but I decided football wasn't everything and I would complete my plumbing apprenticeship. I only have a year to go before I'm fully qualified and it made sense to give myself a career to fall back on."
