Perrault ready to take another step up ladder

PERRAULT impressed with a six-length maiden win last time and he can take the next step up the ladder in the Slug And Lettuce Mid-Week-Meet Handicap at Sandown.

Ralph Beckett’s charge is bred to be a pretty smart individual with his dam being a half-sister to the top-class Grand Lodge among others while his half-sister has shown up well in Grade One company in America.

Perrault is some way short of those kind of achievements but he has shown up well on his two starts to date, finishing second at Newbury towards the back end of last term before reappearing in fine style at Chepstow in May.

While only a moderate event, Perrault easily accounted for the runner-up who has since gone on to win again, a comment which also applies to the last home that day. Clearly Perrault was a good deal better than his rivals and an initial mark of 87 reflects the promise he showed, but he looks capable of defying that mark before moving up the tree once again.
