Perpignan keep tabs on Mike Blair

SCOTLAND scrum-half Mike Blair remains a target for Perpignan after the French outfit trimmed their list of scrum-half candidates.

The 30-year-old, who is out of contract with Edinburgh this summer, has held discussions with the Catalan outfit’s president Paul Goze and, according to a club source, is now one of four contenders. The others are the South African Dewalt Duvenage and the Australians Josh Valentine and Ben Lucas.

If that assessment proves to be accurate, it means Blair’s fellow Scot Rory Lawson – who was also linked with Perpignan – has been ruled out of a move to the club which had Scotland internationals Nathan Hines and Chris Cusiter on its books when winning the French championship in 2009 and has signed Alasdair Strokosch for next season.
