Pamela Pretswell’s LET triumph as amateur

PAMELA Pretswell has become the first amateur to win on the Ladies European Tour Access Series after coming from three shots behind heading into the final round to claim a two-shot victory in the Ljungbyhed Park PGA Ladies Open in Sweden.

It is the second Scottish success on the development circuit recently after Carly Booth won in France before going on to add the Ladies Scottish Open on the main LET circuit a fortnight ago.

“It’s massive for me and definitely my biggest achievement,” she Pretswell, who played in this week’s event instead of heading to Tain to try and win the Scottish Women’s Championship for the first time.

“I’m thinking about turning professional and will go back to Qualifying School in January if I don’t qualify through the Access Series. I’m really happy because I’ve been learning a lot on tour. I’ve seen the importance of how good every shot must be and you’ve to play really well.”

The 23-year-old Bothwell Castle player, who is in the GB&I side for next month’s Curtis Cup in Nairn, certainly did as she closed with a four-under 67 for a 212 total, the only disappointment being that she was unable to collect a prize of around £4,000 due to her amateur status.
