Out-of-sorts Recital ruled out Irish Derby

Aidan O'Brien's Recital has been ruled out of Sunday's Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.

The three-year-old won the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial earlier in the year, but failed to act on Epsom's unique Downs, with Pat Smullen, on board in the absence of Kieren Fallon, who was stopped by a High Court injunction brought by the owners of Native Khan, guiding him to sixth place. Recital had been as low as 4-1, but O'Brien's wife, Annemarie, tweeted: "We weren't 100 per cent happy with Recital this morning so he will not run in the Derby on Sunday."
