Olympics: 2012 ticket quest nears end

Sports fans face an anxious wait to see which, if any, Olympic tickets they have got and how much money they will have to pay.

A London 2012 spokesman said yesterday that "most payments will be taken out by tonight" but they are still working towards a June 10 deadline to collect all payments.

Even then, would-be buyers will be told what they have successfully won by June 24. Initial card payments were due to be debited by the end of May 31 for cards that went through first time, according to the organisers. Outstanding payments from successful applicants whose cards failed the first time around are now being taken. In total, 1.8 million people have made 20 million requests for tickets - but only 6.6 million tickets are on sale in Britain.
