Olympic gold for Scotland's Heather Stanning
It was shortly followed by gold in the men’s fours, the fifth consecutive time Great Britain has won the Olympic event.
Stanning was born in Somerset though is based at Lossiemouth where she is a Royal Artillery officer.

Hide AdShe and Glover successfuly defended their title from London 2012, edging out New Zealand after a dominant first 1,000 meters.
The New Zealand pair closed the gap in the second half of the race but it wasn’t enough to stop Team GB’s taking gold.
Remarkably, it means Stanning and Glover are now unbeaten in 39 races, dating back to the World Championships in 2011.
In the men’s fours, Mohammed Sbihi, George Nash, Constantine Louloudis and London 2012 winner Alex Gregory finished in just under six minutes, less than two seconds ahead of second-placed Australia.
