Oceanographer looks to build on return success

Oceanographer has looked a different horse since being gelded and he can build on his impressive return success in the 32Red Handicap at Kempton.

Winner of one his two juvenile starts, Oceanographer was sent off a short-priced favourite to make a winning start at Leicester back in April.

However, he thoroughly disappointed as he finished a well-beaten sixth of eight, dropping away tamely at the finish and he did not reappear again until last month.

Gelded in the interim, Oceanographer looked a different animal as he found plenty in the finish to pull clear and run out a comfortable eight-length winner over Sarsted. The handicapper has hiked him a full 14lb for that success but Oceanographer is certainly bred to be a nice type and can continue to progress up the ladder.

Lady D’s Rock appears to have relatively limited ability but the 32Red Casino Handicap can prove an eminently winnable event for Clive Cox’s filly.

She has yet to get her head in front in seven starts but her recent third at Kempton suggests she might just prevail in due course.

Returning from a three-month break, she lost out on second place in the final furlong and a slight drop back in distance may make sense.

Saint Honore is in fine heart at present and can make it a hat-trick in the 32Red On The App Store Handicap.

Presenting Arms made an impressive return from nearly a year off the track and he can remain on the upward curve in the Weatherbys Hamilton Handicap Hurdle at Wincanton.

The eight-year-old disappointed at Huntingdon last December and was then on the sidelines until tackling a decent event at Kempton towards the end of last month. He had previously shown he goes well fresh and he powered home by just over a length after making much of the running. Presenting Arms was hardly all out in victory and could still have something to come.

Cyclop is the pick in the Lincs Loos Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase after showing a glimpse of promise last time out. Having his second start over fences, Cyclop looked like finishing tailed off before finding a second wind and staying on again for third. He is clearly not straightforward but likely has the ability to win if putting his best foot forward.
