The shirt, made by Adidas, is a darker blue than this season’s Puma kit, and has the sportswear brand’s iconic stripes on the sleeves.

It also features Union Jack silhouette on the body and a round collar.

Fans will note the similarity between this kit and the home kit worn between 1994 and 1996, also made by Adidas and worn by the likes of Brian Laudrup, Paul Gascoigne and Derek McInnes.

However, before Ibrox supporters start getting too excited, it’s worth pointing out that chairman Dave King mentioned yesterday that the club had entered discussions with current kit suppliers Puma over a new contract.

So while fans may be rubbing their hands in glee at the possibility of another retro-inspired kit - after this year’s red-and-white-quartered change kit - they may be left disappointed by this particular mock-up kit.
