Musselburgh tickets sold out

MUSSELBURGH Racecourse has sold out its annual Ladies' Day fixture for the fourth successive year.

With four days to go the East Lothian course reported that all briefs have been snapped up and stress there will be no cash sales on Friday's race day.

Racecourse general manager Bill Farnsworth is delighted his gamble to switch Ladies Day from its traditional Saturday berth to a Friday has paid off.

He said: "Ladies Day has been an outstanding success and attracted capacity crowds in the last three years but we had to move it from the first Saturday in June to accommodate our new Edinburgh Cup meeting.

"We were a bit concerned the Friday slot may hit the attendance slightly but we are delighted to have sold out for a fourth year, which underlines the drawing power this day enjoys. We always encounter race goers who have left it too late and are desperate to attend Ladies Day but must make clear there will be no gate sales on the day."
