Musselburgh to give Kiwis their debuts

Musselburgh rugby club
will give debuts to two Kiwi recruits when they visit
Jed-Forest for a friendly match on Saturday.

The game goes ahead as planned despite flooding which affected some parts of Jedburgh, and Musselburgh coach Brian Hughes is optimistic ahead of a campaign in the third tier Championship B division.

Says Hughes: “I was reasonably satisfied with a run-out at Kelso last weekend when it was decided not to risk either of our two New Zealanders after they picked up minor injuries in training.

“Mark Brierley, a hooker/prop who could easily play at Premiership level, slightly turned an ankle, while Jon Hall had a hamstring strain.

“They will shortly be joined by another couple of their countrymen and we had gaps to fill as the three New Zealanders who represented us last season
returned home.”
