Murray sure new faces will arrive at Hibs

Ian MURRAY today urged Hibs fans to be patient as they anxiously await further news of manager Colin Calderwood's summer signing targets.

Although the Easter Road club was first into the market to snap up Ivan Sproule, the sight of arch-rivals Hearts unveiling three new faces in the shape of John Sutton, Jamie Hamill and Danny Grainger has left many Hibs supporters questioning the apparent lack of activity at their club.

But club captain Murray has no doubts there will be new arrivals if not before he and his team-mates report back for pre-season training on June 20, then certainly by the time the new SPL campaign kicks off on July 23. Murray watched ten team-mates walk out the door at the end of the season to add to those who had departed since the turn of the year as Calderwood began to put his rebuilding plans in place.

He said: "It's quite an unusual situation, not many clubs will have so many out of contract and leaving but that comes out of not having had a great season and the change of manager.

"However, the nucleus of the team is still there. The manager brought in a few in January, it's pretty clear he's building towards his own team. Hearts were very active last week but I'm sure our manager will have his eyes wide open as to what he wants.

"He will have lots of contacts down south and abroad but there is plenty of time. The season only finished less than three weeks ago. There is stacks of time and you have to remember a lot of players are still under contract where they are until the end of this month.

"We've got a young team so I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of older players, guys who are 28, 29 or 30 coming in."

Hibs have reminded supporters season ticket renewals will close at 3.00pm on Saturday.
