Morro Bajo posts new best in 60 metres

Capital teenager Morro Bajo (Edinburgh AC) made further progress when he came close to breaking the seven seconds “barrier” in winning the Scottish Schools over-15 60 metres sprint title at the Emirates Arena, Glasgow.

The 16-year-old Drummond High school pupil clocked 7.01 secs, improving his personal best from 7.09 and jumping from eighth to fifth in the UK for his age.

His time is also the fourth fastest by a Scot in 2013 behind US-based James McLachlan, Ryan Oswald (Pitreavie) and clubmate Allan Hamilton.

Another clubmate, Michael Olsen, took the under-16 60 metres in 7.34 secs while Ben Robbins (George Watson’s) won the over-16 400m in 49.68.

Robbins will also compete in the Scottish senior indoor championships at the Emirates a week on Sunday where his coach Dave Goodall is hoping he will go under 49 seconds.
