St Leonards School is one of the sponsors of the Fife Point-to-Point Balcormo Races – and so it was a real thrill for one of the pupils to win the Fife Foxhounds Pony Race.
Elliot Stockwell, who is in year seven, was victorious in the race for youngsters 138cm and under. He has only been racing competitively for a year, and his pony mount was “Ninfield Millionaire’s Splendour”.
There was more horsey success for the St Andrews school. Competing in the Scottish Schools’ Equestrian Championship at the Howe Equestrian Centre, the St Leonards team of Ella Vincent, Harriet Vincent, Sophie Brown and Libby Clark finished in fifth place in the team event and Harriet picked up three bronze medals in the individual disciplines.
In rugby, three St Leonards students represented Howe of Fife Under-16s squad in the final of the BT Caledonia Youth Cup at Station Park in St Andrews. Jamie MacAulay, Ruairi Hutchinson and Jack Denton were in the side that defeated Ross Sutherland and won the Caledonia Under-16 plate.
