McKail makes U-25 last four with triumph over Ewing

Kerr McKAIL of Summerside stepped up his defence of the Edinburgh & Leith under-25 singles title for the James Fleming Trophy with a 21-12 win over Gorgie Mills challenger Robert Ewing in Thursday night’s quarter-final action.

The clash at Colinton saw McKail make a spectacular start to race into a 10-1 lead before Ewing made an impression to close to 13-7, but last year’s champion upped a gear that accelerated him into the 

McKail, who beat 2010 
champion Neil Watson in the previous round, also has it tough in next weeks semi-
finals, as his opposition comes in the shape of Northern ace Jamie Reid, who is an indoor cap from Portobello IBC.

Meanwhile Edinburgh & Leith continue their Scottish Under 25 League Cup campaign against East Lothian at Currie tomorrow, while 
Midlothian face Fife.
