Edinburgh squash player Doug Kempsell pulled another rabbit out of the hat at the World Team Squash Championships in Mulhouse, France last night to guarantee Scotland a top ten placing after they beat the United States 2-1, writes LORIN MCDOUGALL.

The 20-year-old won the
deciding rubber against Finland on Thursday and repeated the trick last night, edging a tight opening game against
Dylan Murray before going on to win 13-11, 11-7, 11-8.

Alan Clyne was another Scots hero against Finland, and the world No.30 had to go the full five-game distance again when defeating the United States’ top player Chris Gordon.

Greg Lobban then lost match two to Gilly Lane, leaving Kempsell and Murray to battle it out for the right to face Pakistan in today’s ninth place play-off final.
