BADMINTON Scotland has confirmed the departure of performance coach John Quinn, who is returning to Badminton England to take up a role of Head of England Performance.

But chief executive Anne Smillie will waste no time in the search for a replacement, starting this week when she goes to support Scotland’s challenge in the Sudirman Cup world mixed team championships in Kuala Lumpur.

“It will give me a chance to see what coaching talent might become available,” she said. “We are heading into an exciting phase for Scottish badminton, with the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games fast approaching, and I am sure a role working with our talented Scotland squad in the build-up to the Games will be appealing to many.

“We also have a world championship in August and I would like to think we could have John’s replacement in post before then.”

Smillie said of Quinn’s departure: “I hope that John has enjoyed his time in Scotland and has benefited from the experience he has gained here. I wish him every success when he takes up his new post in August.”
