Miedzybrodzki misses out on beach volleyball Games slot

Edinburgh beach volleyball specialist Robin Miedzybrodzki has missed out on a Olympic place after the men’s slots for London went to Steve Grotowski and John Garcia-Thompson.

Miedzybrodzki, who played for City of Edinburgh indoors, has partnered the Spain-reared Garcia-Thompson in the past, but has been playing with England’s Tom Lord in recent months.

“For an athlete, there is
nothing better than being
selected to compete at an
Olympic Games,” Garcia-Thompson stated. “It really is a dream come true, and we have been training hard and making real progress.”

Grotowski added: “I am
honoured and excited to be
officially selected to Team GB. I am really looking forward to
playing at the Horse Guards Parade venue, which will be amazing and has such a
fantastic history.

“We have the opportunity to show the UK what beach
volleyball is all about.”
